Senior Mechanical Designer
Primary Functions:
- Work with design engineers and complete designs and SolidWorks models.
- Perform detailed design and generate fabrication drawings in SolidWorks.
- Develop the required documentations during development for transfer to manufacturing (models, detail drawings, diagrams, BOM, assembly procedures). Generate meticulous, detailed, and thorough documentation.
- Identify vendors and outsource parts (off the shelf components, custom items, and fabricated parts). Must be comfortable interfacing with vendors.
- Must work towards and meet schedule.
- Comfortable and have the basic skills to troubleshoot, debug, and qualify mechanical subsystems and components. Resolve issues with design engineers and vendors as appropriate.
- Clearly and concisely express problems, issues, options, ideas, etc.
- Work well within the team environment.
Qualifications:
- Expert user of SolidWorks CAD program. Quality work, fast and high output.
- 10+ years commercial experience as a mechanical designer preferably with capital/process equipment with significant mechanisms and automation.
- Strong knowledge of machining and fabrication process for metals. Expertise in sheet metal design.
- An Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Experience in designing and detailing mechanisms for automation and complex electro-mechanical products is preferred.
- Experience with refrigerated systems and/or insulated enclosures is a plus.
- Completed a minimum of 2 product life cycles (from concept to production) as a key contributor.
- Skilled computer and Internet user.
- Must have a strong work ethic and good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently with a minimum supervision or direction.
