Systems Engineer
Automation & Motion Control, Capital & Process Equipment
Primary Functions:

Key contributor in generating product concepts and system architecture within the R&D/ Product Development group.

Document functional requirements, and generate technical specifications at the overall system and sub-system levels.

Contribute to design efforts in systems integration, systems monitoring and control, electronics and automation systems control.

Hands on; help to test, troubleshoot, debug, and qualify products at all levels including integrated systems, subsystems, modules, etc. A go to person for identifying and resolving complex technical issues.

Work with, and coordinate, multiple technical disciplines (software, electrical, and automation/mechanical) in meeting the requirements, integrating systems, and resolving technical issues.

Clearly and concisely express and document ideas, issues, options, etc.

Ensure that the specifications, schedule, and the budget have been met.

Develop the required systems documentation during the product development and systems documentation required for transfer to manufacturing.

Serve as a technical lead during the product launch. Lead the efforts during the first few customers’ system installs and acceptance tests. Travel to the first customers’ sites if needed.

Provide the highest-tier of technical support to the field service and manufacturing groups.
Qualifications:

A BSEE/BSCS/BSME or equivalent combination of experience and education.

8+ years experience with capital/process equipment with significant mechanisms and automation and robotic systems experience.

Completed a minimum of 3 product life cycles (from concept to production) as a key contributor and preferably in leadership roles.

Experience with product development under FDA Quality Systems Regulations, European Union Medical Device Directive (93/42/EEC), CE Marking process, and ISO 13485 Quality Systems is a big plus.

Strong multi-disciplinary experience. Solid experience in systems design and engineering of products with complex and multi-tier software, robotics/ automation mechanisms, and electronics.

Demonstrated capability to perform engineering analysis and familiarity with commonly used analysis tools.

Aware of business issues as they impact overall project plans. Understanding of the market requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues.

Must have a strong work ethic and good written and verbal communication skills.

Must be able to work independently with a minimum supervision or direction.

Interact professionally and courteously with customers, sales/marketing, customer support, and manufacturing.

Work well within the team environment.
